The french VR company VR4GOOD has recently signed a contract with the famous Opéra National de Paris and the organization FEHAP : the purpose was to allow residents and seniors from care homes to still benefit from culture, operas and ballets while it is quite hard for them to move or get transported from their homes to any cultural place in town.
"Art is life", said VR4GOOD co-founders, "anyone should be able to access to art and music easily. Thanks to Opéra de Paris and FEHAP that shared our vision, we can make it accessible to older people thanks to our innovative plug'n play virtual reality service".
Journalist Frank McCarthy related this story in his article commenting :
"At the beginning of spring, in a time frame when life is supposed to resume and the terraces fill up again, a flower blooms. The Opera de Paris is committed to
EHPAD. The system implemented will allow residents of about 40 institutions across France to benefit from virtual reality headsets suitable for the elderly. By broadcasting excerpts from opera and ballet, these virtual speakers will bring back opera and culture to the people hardest hit by coronavirus-related isolation."
